NU Club of Tampa Bay
Following two successful
events in Fall 2001, the Tampa Bay alumni are positioning themselves to
re-invigorate the NU Club of Tampa Bay.
In October, the inaugural
"Northwestern Explores..." program brought the former
curator of the Block Museum, David Mickenberg, and NU History and German
Professor, Peter Hayes, to town for a presentation of "Last Expression:
Art & Auschwitz". Over two hundred area alumni and friends of
NU attended this event at the Baywalk in St. Pete thanks to the help of
alumni Mel Sembler, Craig Sher and James Soble.
In December and with
the help of Regent Charles Sansone, "A Broadway Holiday Revue"
featuring the musical theater talents of seven NU undergraduates under
the direction of Dominic Missimi, NU Professor of musical theatre went
live at the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club in Tampa. Attendees enjoy
a short presentation by Dean of the School of Music, Bernie Dobroski and
a 55 minute presentation of Broadway and Holiday favorites.
This is just a beginning
of type of events which can be a part of your activities in the Tampa
Bay area as an NU alumnus.
