Coming to town for Reunion Weekend? Find resources here―including hotel accommodations in and around Evanston and information about campus parking, shuttles, and public transportation. We’ll update this page frequently, so check back as Reunion Weekend approaches.

Traveling to Northwestern

Getting to Campus

Train and Bus Transportation

Northwestern’s Evanston and Chicago campuses are easily accessible by public transportation, including the CTA rail and bus system and the Metra commuter rail:

  • NUREUNION23: can be used for Evanston campus events
    October 5–8
  • NUCHICAGO23: can be used for Chicago class party events the evening of October 6

Parking and Local Shuttle Options

Parking on Campus

Park free on campus throughout Reunion Weekend: University parking restrictions will be waived during Reunion Weekend from Thursday at 4 p.m. through Sunday, excluding emergency lanes and reserved spots. See the Evanston campus parking map.

Divvy is intended for short trips within Evanston or across Divvy’s network of more than 580 Chicagoland stations. View a list of Evanston bike share stations.

Hotel Accommodations

Make your travel plans for Reunion Weekend 2023 early: Alumni and their guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements, and hotels can fill up fast. The Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Choose Chicago are a great resource for the many affordable accommodation options in the Evanston and Chicago areas.

We’ve also reserved hotel room blocks for reunion alumni at the hotels listed below. These room blocks do not include a special discount or rate—rather, they are held for alumni solely as an accommodation option for Reunion Weekend. Block sizes are limited, with rooms offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Hotel block availability can only be guaranteed through each hotel’s specified cut-off date. Details about reservation deadlines, rates, and other terms and conditions can be found on the hotel websites through the links below.

Planned Giving

Did you know that making a planned gift to Northwestern during your Reunion year is another way to maximize your impact on your class gift?

  • If you make a new planned gift to the University—by adding Northwestern to your estate plan, designating Northwestern as the beneficiary of your retirement account, or creating a charitable gift annuity of charitable remainder trust—your gift may be counted in your class goal.
  • If you have already provided for Northwestern in your estate plan, but have yet to share the value or purpose, your gift may also be counted. Please consider conveying the details of your gift in time for your Reunion.

Are there restrictions on what I can bring into the stadium on game day?

Northwestern has instituted a clear bag policy for game day. Approved bags must be either clear bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", one-gallon clear plastic bags, or small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5". For more information on what is allowed in the stadium on game day, visit the Clear Bag Policy FAQ.

What is Reunion Weekend attire?

Most events during Reunion Weekend are casual. There are opportunities throughout the weekend to explore campus, so we encourage you to bring comfortable and weather-appropriate attire.

Temperatures in October range from the low 40s to mid-60s, and rain is always a possibility. We recommend bringing an umbrella and suitable clothing for variable weather. Please keep in mind that some reunion events are outdoors and cannot be moved inside.

The recommended attire for your class party will be listed on your class page in mid-2024.
