The world is changing, and the NAA is changing with it. We need to meet our wonderfully diverse and increasingly global alumni where they are—with programs, events, and content that spark their curiosity, nourish their passions, and deepen their sense of community.”

Northwestern Alumni Association Statement on Inclusion

The Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA) embraces inclusion across race, gender, religion, age, identity, faith, ancestry, citizenship, national origin, physical and mental ability, and any other quality that makes a person unique. The NAA strives to dismantle institutional and systemic racism and discrimination and engage every Northwestern graduate in promoting social justice.

We acknowledge that, in many ways, our work has only just begun, and some commitments will take much longer to accomplish. With an eye to the future, we commit to prioritizing true diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all that we do. We pledge to:

  • Invest in alumni programming that celebrates diversity and includes all alumni.
  • Intentionally support affinity groups representing alumni of color and underrepresented communities to ensure all alumni have a place of home, connection, and belonging in the NAA network.
  • Implement critical networking, mentoring, and career-focused programs supporting alumni of all backgrounds.
  • Promptly respond to and act upon the needs of our alumni and the communities we serve.
  • Strive to build a community where each member feels welcomed, represented, and valued.
  • Nurture a culture in which the NAA’s professional staff serve as allies and change agents for inclusion.
