About this Presentation

The Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA) invites members of Northwestern's international student community to join alumni panelists and special guests for the 2023 NAA International Student Panel.

Learn from former international students how to navigate your own career path and how the NAA and the Northwestern network of more than 260,000 alumni can offer support as you strive towards reaching your personal and professional goals.

During the panel, you will: 

•            Learn about the Northwestern Alumni Association and our global alumni network
•            Gain valuable contacts for NU Alumni Clubs worldwide
•            Learn more about career and mentoring tools and programs offered through the NAA

Panelists

Lavanya Ashok Kumar ’10

Lavanya is a strategy consultant with experience conducting qualitative research and consulting global brands on strategy development. Over the past 12 years she has lived and worked in Dubai, New York, Singapore and Sydney and trained clients across the Middle East, South East Asia, ANZ and North America in using design thinking techniques to understand people, unlock their motivations and develop solutions for complex problems. Particularly interested in designing solutions to problems that have a social impact, she is also one of the lead organizers of the OpenIDEO Sydney Chapter - IDEO's open innovation platform where the community collaboratively tackles some of the toughest global issues including poverty, immunisation challenges and food wastage through human-centred design. She received her Masters in Integrated Marketing from Northwestern University with coursework at the Medill School and Kellogg School of Management. She is currently working in Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Aaron Pu ’16

Aaron grew up in Beijing and attended Northwestern University from 2012 to 2016. He received his B.A. from Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Economics and minoring in French. After graduation, Aaron moved back to Beijing to join his family-owned company that primarily invests in projects in different industries, including real-estate, hospitality, textiles, biotech and others. He is currently pursuing an MBA degree at Tsinghua University. 
 
Aaron currently serves as the President of the Northwestern University Alumni Club of Beijing. Through hosting social, professional, cultural, sport-related activities and others, the Club of Beijing provides alumni in China with a networking platform to stay connected with each other and with Northwestern University. 
 
Aaron is also an avid fan of sports and physical wellness. He plays in a high-level amateur soccer league in Beijing and is passionate about other sports like golf, triathlon and skiing/snowboarding.  



Juan Solera ’20

Juan is currently a Technology Consultant at Deloitte focusing on large tech transformation projects for banking clients, based in Chicago. He is originally from San Jose, Costa Rica and moved to the US to get his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern. In his free time, he being active and trying new ways to exercise (spinning, pickleball) and also likes to travel (going to Puerto Rico soon!).
