NU Club of Washington, DC

Welcome to the NU Club of Washington DC, winner of the Northwestern Alumni Association’s “Club of the Year” award in 2006! We have one of the most active local NU alumni clubs in the world.

Recent events have included:

* A reception on Capitol Hill featuring House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL-5)
* A panel on foreign policy and the future of U.S. diplomacy post-Iraq featuring Medill graduates
* An annual Holiday Gala benefiting the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program
* Brunch with sportswriters and alumni Michael Wilbon and Christine Brennan
* An annual fundraiser to benefit Northwestern’s Dance Marathon
* Group outings to sporting events, including a Washington Nationals game when the Chicago Cubs are in town
* Career networking, community service, docent-led tours, and much more!

Join the club every week this fall as we cheer on our football team! We have spaces reserved every week at Buffalo Billiards (metro: Dupont Circle), and Union Jack’s (metro: Bethesda).

Membership dues are $15 for single memberships, and $25 for family memberships. Free membership is provided to pre-1956 graduates, recent graduates (2006 and 2007), and parents of current students. We also have options for multi-year memberships. Benefits of membership include discounted event prices, early notification and registration for popular events that typically sell out, and invitations to exclusive members only events.

With your dues check, please include a note with your name, school and graduation year, mailing address, and preferred email address. If you are eligible for free membership, you can simply send an email with this information to Elizabeth at dcmembership@alumni.northwestern.edu.

Once you have joined, you will be added to the club’s newsletter mailing list and email distribution list, which keep club members up-to-date on the latest events.

In addition, the club awards a scholarship to a Northwestern student serving as an intern in Washington over the summer. You may send a donation for this scholarship along with your membership dues.

If you are interested in helping plan club events, all Northwestern alumni are welcome to attend board meetings. Meetings are held every 4-6 weeks at the law offices of Winston and Strawn at 1700 K Street, NW on the 12th floor, in Washington (near the Farragut North/West stations). For dates of future meetings, please follow the Club Calendar link on this webpage. Meetings begin at 6:30 pm and food is served.
