Can Renewable Energy Solve All Our Problems? Bob Vanderhye at A Day with Northwestern 2007
Renewable energy isn’t just for the future. Many technologies are currently available that can greatly improve national health, enhance national security, and create all levels of domestic jobs. A specialist in environment and energy-related technology, Bob Vanderhye (McC68) graduated from the McCormick school of Engineering at Northwestern and received his law degree from American University in 1973.
He worked as a patent examiner for 5 years, and as a patent attorney in private practice (Nixon & Vanderhye P. C.) for 28 years, specializing in environment and energy-related technology. He has testified before Congress and the Maryland Public Service Commission on renewable energy alternatives to nuclear power, and successfully represented an intervener in the Nuclear Regulatory Proceeding regarding the Douglas Point Nuclear Power Plant. Since 2001 Bob has been inventing, developing, and testing vertical axis wind turbines. There are 15 pending or issued patents that he is inventor or co-inventor of, most dealing with wind turbine technology.
Mr. Vanderhye’s presentation was recorded at A Day with Northwestern in Evanston on April 21, 2007.
