Solomon/Tenenbaum Northwestern University History
1935 to 1942
Aaron Solomon attends Northwestern University, and studies accounting. He is only a few credits short of graduating when he’s called to serve during World War II.
1968
Sandra Solomon becomes the first member of her family to graduate from Northwestern University. She graduates in 1968 with a degree in speech pathology.
1970
After spending a year at Ohio State University, Marvin Tenenbaum transfers to Northwestern University, in part to be closer to his high school sweetheart, Lynn Solomon, and to join a local Army Reserve Unit.
1973
Marvin graduates from Northwestern University with a degree in economics. He promptly enrolls at Northwestern’s Law School, from where his brother Sam graduated that same year.
1976
The highlight of Marvin’s time at Northwestern Law School comes when he and professor Irv Gordon author a paper for the Northwestern Law Review. Marvin graduates from Northwestern Law School near the top of his class.
1994-2001
Jason follows in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, enrolling at Northwestern University in the fall of 1994. In 1998, he graduates with a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemistry. In 1999, Adam transfers to Northwestern from the University of Miami. He graduates three years later with a degree in English.
In 1996, Marvin serves as the fundraising chair for the Irv Gordon Memorial Fund at the Law School, a fund established in honor of his one-time mentor. His efforts help to raise more than $100,000 for the fund.
In 1999, Marvin and Lynn Tenenbaum establish two library funds in the memory of their parents: the Aaron and Frieda Solomon Jewish Studies Library Fund, and together with Sam and Susy Tenenbaum, the Joseph and Anna Tenenbaum Jewish Studies Library Fund.
Present
Sam Tenenbaum joins the faculty of the Northwestern Law School and Bluhm Legal Clinic as a visiting professor. He previously served a one-year term as fundraising chair for the Law School Fund, helping to raise more than $1,000,000 for the school.
