Episode One:
Shaping Your Career to Be in Demand

If you’re thinking about the next step on your career path, listen to this first in a series of career-related Podcasts, "Shaping Your Career to be in Demand: An Interview with Daniel Pink," hosted by Carol Ross (McC83, GMcC87). In this interview, Daniel Pink (WCAS86), author of Free Agent Nation and A Whole New Mind, Dan explains that the forces of American economic abundance, Asian market expansion, and automation are changing the nature of work.

In A Whole New Mind, Dan identifies Six Senses that are the new core competencies for sustainable jobs – Design, Story, Symphony, Empathy, Play and Meaning. These right-brain directed activities combine with the traditional left-brain directed activities to create jobs in demand (think video game developers), products that sell (think iPod), and services that we can’t seem to do without (think the corner Starbucks with WiFi).
