Alumni celebrated spring, mingled with old friends and made new ones at the NU Club of Greater New York Spring Happy Hour at Brite Bar.
- New York: Trivia Challenge to Benefit DM (3.8.08)
While students danced for 30 hours in Evanston, alumni and friends in New York gathered at Dempsey's Pub in the East Village for an afternoon of trivia. Teams completed for prizes, including tickets to The Colbert Report and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The New York alumni event raised $1,000 for Dance Marathon's beneficiaries Bear Necessities and the Evanston Community Foundation. Dance Marathon 2008 raised a record-breaking $933,855. - New York: Super Tuesday Happy Hour (Feb 5)
Alumni toasted their favorite candidate and watched Super Tuesday's primary results at the NU Club of Greater New York Winter Happy Hour
- New York: Second Acts with Marilyn Moats Kennedy
More than 80 alumni gathered at the McGraw-Hill Building to learn how to launch themselves into a new role or career. Moderator, author, consultant and speaker, Marilyn Moats Kennedy (J65, GJ66) led the workshop. Special thanks to Northwestern Alumni Association's Sia Apostolakis for organizing this event.

Prof. Taylor led an engaging discussion on global warming, today’s “hottest” issue. The event was hosted at Hearst Tower, Hearst Corporation's new global headquarters and New York City's first green office building. A short film on the building's green architecture and design was presented.
- NU and Big 10 co-ed Zogsports Soccer Team
A very successful season saw the team make its division playoff finale to finish the season with its only loss, ending at 6-1-2! The team had representation from Michigan State, Purdue, and Illinois!
- New York: New York Cares Day (10/20)
More than 50 Northwestern and Big Ten alumni volunteered at P.S. 189 in
Brooklyn for New York Cares Day. On this one day, 8,000 volunteers
revitalized 100 public schools in New York's five boroughs by painting
murals, organizing libraries and gardening.
- New York: New York Philharmonic (9.14.07)
About 100 Northwestern alumni and friends gathered at Lincoln Center to hear the New York Philharmonic conducted by composer John Williams -- famous for such films as Star Wars, E.T., and Indiana Jones. The concert featured Hollywood film scores, including a salute to the films of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

As part of Make a Difference Day, New York alumni supported breast cancer survivors and advocates at a cheering station along the route of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
- New York: God's Love We Deliver's (9/16/07)
Alumni volunteered at God's Love We Deliver to chop vegetables in an effort to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. God's Love We Deliver prepares and delivers nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves. Alumni from the NU Club of Greater New York welcomed new students and their parents to the Northwestern University community with a summer BBQ. We gathered at the home of David Freeman (Medill '81) so new students could find out what life is really like on campus before heading off to Evanston.

The NU Club of Greater New York will welcome the Northwestern Womens' Lacrosse team --- three-time national champions -- for our annual Sports Night event. Save the date for July 31, 2007.

Alumni volunteered to chop, dice and stir with God's Love We Deliver. The organization's mssion is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. They prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.

- New York: Networking Event (May 2, 2007)
The NAA and the NU Club of Greater New York hosted a training session on effective networking. Alumni mingled with fellow graduates from industries including journalism and public relations; law; engineering; entertainment; education and non-profit; and finance, business and consulting. William Weinbaum (BSJ ’82, MSJ ’83), producer for ESPN’s SportsCenter and Outside the Lines, gave the keynote speech at the event.

New York alumni attended the New York Philharmonic's semi-staged performance of Lerner and Loewe’s "My Fair Lady". The limited run show featured Kelli O’Hara as Eliza Doolittle and Kelsey Grammer as Professor Henry Higgins.

Alumni gathered at Proof Bar and Lounge in Gramercy Park for the annual mini-Dance Marathon Bar Night. Other alumni events took place in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Twin Cities, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.

Alumni spent a Saturday afternoon walking dogs for the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC), a no-kill animal shelter in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Peter Johnson (WCAS ’71, Medill ’72) was elected to the board of directors of the Northwestern Alumni Association at the Leadership Conference in Evanston in October. His board role with be to work with and support all of the NU clubs and alumni in the Greater New York area.
Peter is Managing Director of Marketmaker Capital in NYC and resides in Bronxville, NY.

Alumni watched the Wildcats take on the Purdue Boilermakers at Blondies on New York's Upper West Side. The Northwestern Alumni Association sponsored a Wildcat Give Away with great prizes, including an autographed football, NU gear, mugs and much more. We also sold the NU Club of Greater New York's brand new purple NU/Blondies T-shirts.

More than 50 Northwestern alumni gathered on the Great Lawn of Manhattan’s Central Park for a picnic and an evening of opera. This summer’s “Met in the Parks” concert series kicked off with La Traviata.

The Council of 100 — Northwestern University's 100 leading professional alumnae, as appointed by NU's President — gathered with students and alumnae over tapas and sangria in the private room at New York City's best Spanish restaurant Solera.

Alumni and friends met at Midtown East's Metro 53 to support the 32nd Annual Dance Marathon. The NU Club of Greater New York donated $1,500 to Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative (PACPI) and the Evanston Community Foundation (ECF).
