Need some inspiration to help keep your motivation alive?
What’s it all about?
Please join us for the NAA Leadership Symposium—this year focusing on motivation!
You’ll spend time catching up with old friends, making new connections with attendees from around the country, learning with fellow alums, and renewing your motivation.
Attending the Symposium is:
• An investment in your personal life • A way to keep focused on your professional goals • A means to stay productive and find fulfillment in your role as a volunteer leader
…And, as a current or future alumni leader, you’ll learn tools to keep others motivated and focused on the goals!
Who should attend, and why?
Alumni leaders and friends everywhere are welcome to join us on campus for these special days. In addition to the “main stage” programming on Friday, there’s something specific for everyone:
Club Leaders and Regional Directors will interact with their peers, share best practices, and find innovative solutions to club challenges including programming, finances, leadership development and more.
Alumni Admissions Council Members will get the up-to-date information they need to present NU enthusiastically and accurately to students at college fairs and in interviews.
The Northwestern Alumni Association Board will hold its annual meeting and enjoy the opportunity to meet and learn from alumni leaders and top speakers.
Alumni Regents and Alumni Trustees will enjoy the opportunity to learn from their constituents from around the globe.
Young Alums and Current Students will discover the wide array of opportunities to get involved with the NAA, network with alumni, and gain skills and contacts that will prepare them for dynamic leadership roles.
If you can’t make it for both days—circle Friday, September 7th on your calendar. President Bienen will present a State of the University address at 11am, followed by a luncheon presentation of this year’s Excellence in Teaching award. The afternoon program features three remarkable fellow Northwestern alumni sharing their motivating drive with you! Click here to see the speaker bios, schedule details or register.
What will I gain by attending?
Past attendees of Leadership Symposium share their reasons for attending…
“I started coming years ago when I first volunteered on my local club board. It’s a remarkable experience. You may come feeling drained, but there’s something about leaving with phone numbers and email addresses of new contacts—new resources, really—that help you leave feeling revitalized. And it’s great to meet all the staff that are always so helpful over the phone—you can finally put faces with email addresses! Questions? Email me at jbendall@alumni.northwestern.edu. I look forward to seeing you there!”
JoEllen Bendall, J 1980 NAA Board Indianapolis, IN
“I attended last year's Leadership Symposium because I thought it would be a good opportunity for professional development. Not only did I learn a lot, but also I was also able to connect with active members of the Alumni Association and found new ways to get involved as a young alum!”
Mike Saxvik, WCAS 2003 Volunteer Leader St. Louis, MO
"The Leadership Symposium was not only a great vehicle for sharing the latest in leadership thinking, but also a wonderful opportunity for networking with fellow alumni."
Randy Holmes, Kellogg 1971 Volunteer Leader Edison, NJ
“Meeting with fellow club leaders from all over the country sparks scores of ideas on programs, events, building membership, and handling club finances. It's fun to share successes and find out how our peer clubs overcome problems, too. I find it invigorating to catch up on what's going on at NU, chat with current students, hear world-class alumni speakers and faculty members, and enjoy the excitement of Wildcat football, too. I wouldn't miss the Leadership Symposium for the world!”
Susan Kraus Jones J'71, GJ'72 Treasurer, NU Club of West Michigan Regional Director, Region Five
