National Clubs Gather for Homecoming 2007

Homecoming 2007 was a successful and exciting year for the Black Alumni Association (NUBAA), the Marching and Band Alumni (NUMBALUMS), and the Gay and Lesbian Alumni (NUGALA). Each club hosted several events throughout the weekend, involving enthusiastic and engaged groups of alumni.

While NUBAA found that opening their doors to both undergraduates as well as alums was a beneficial exchange, the crowning activity of the weekend for NUMBALUMS was taking the field for the pre-game show, playing in the stands with the band during the game, and joining with them on the field at halftime. NUGALA had a special reason to celebrate by announcing plans to establish a LGBT scholarship fund, which is already half-way toward their initial fundraising goal. 
 
NUBAA
NUBAA alums gathered on Homecoming night at the Black House and were pleased to see so many alums returning to campus for the first time in years. The tailgate, a game time gathering at Chili’s, the all-class party, and a jazz event likewise drew high and energized attendance.

NUMBALUMBS
For NUMBALUMS, Homecoming is the pinnacle weekend of the year. Alumni of the Northwestern “Wildcat” Marching Band return to campus for fellowship and camaraderie. This year, NUMBALUMS watched the 2007 band practice on Friday afternoon, then enjoyed a light dinner followed by the pep rally and “Wildcat” Band performance in Cahn Auditorium. Early Saturday morning, alums gathered for music and marching rehearsal, welcomed the team as they arrived at the stadium, mingled with current band members over breakfast, and assembled at Wildcat Alley for a performance before other loyal NU alums.

NUGALA
Over 80 NUGALA members and their friends gathered Friday evening to celebrate Northwestern’s Homecoming and Reunions at Mary’s Attic in Chicago.  Alumni, students, and staff enjoyed a delicious buffet while they mingled with old friends and new.
