How the West Wing Was Won

December 2005

Hot on the heels of the 2004 election, four Washington reporters (led by moderator Dean Loren Ghiglione of the Medill School of Journalism) assess the outcome of the vote and revisit some shining moments–as well as a few new lows–in the media's coverage of the campaign. From bloggers to spin doctors to political action committees, what ultimately mobilized voters? Exactly how, with the aid of 20/20 hindsight, will we say the West Wing was won?

The panel includes:

  • Elisabeth Bumiller (J77), White House Correspondent, New York Times
  • Kwame Holman (GJ82), Congressional Correspondent, "The NewsHour"
  • Susan Page (J73), Washington Bureau Chief, USA Today
  • Jay Rosen (GJ96), White House Correspondent, Fox News Channel
