A New Day One: Revitalizing Your Habits and Strategies for Success

William J. White, a 2004 NAA Excellence in Teaching Award winner, reviews the habits of successful executives that can be used in everyday life and contribute to personal and career success. Using his 35 years of business experience, much as a general manager and later as chairman/CEO of a NYSE company together with six years on the Northwestern University faculty, White describes a blend of theory and practice that applies to leadership activities of all kinds.

About the Presenter

William J. White (McC61), is currently a professor at the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern. He is the author of From Day One: CEO Advice to Launch an Extraordinary Career. Prior to joining Northwestern, he served for eight years as Chairman and CEO of Bell & Howell. He also served as a senior executive at Whitestar Graphics, Mead, USG, Masonite, Hartmarx and other successful firms. He has been on the boards of Reader’s Digest, Bell & Howell, USG, Packaging Dynamics, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Illinois Math and Science Academy, and is currently a trustee of Northwestern. He has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern and a Harvard MBA.
