Wildcats Enjoy Double Charity
Nearly 400 alumni, students, and friends of Northwestern gathered at Chicago's magnificent Cadillac Palace Theater on Friday, March 11 for a performance of Sweet Charity, the Broadway classic now enjoying a stylish revival with Christina Applegate in the title role.
As it turned out, the audience got not one Charity, but two. After a foot injury felled Applegate early in the show, understudy Dylis Croman stepped in and finished the performance.
At an exclusive post-show discussion with Professor Dominic Missimi of the School of Communication, Northwestern alumnus Denis O'Hare (who plays Charity's bumbling love interest, Oscar) and nearly a dozen members of the cast, the Northwestern audience was able to hear first-hand about the backstage acrobatics that helped the show to go on.
O'Hare and fellow cast member Ernie Sabella then joined a festive group of Wildcats for a reception at the adjacent Hotel Allegro for late-night nibbles and Sweet Chari-tinis.

NAA's next theater outing, on April 29, will be to Take Me Out, a new production of the Tony-award winning play by Chicago's own About Face Theatre. For more information or to reserve your tickets online, click here.
