Force and Foreign Policy: The Future of U.S. Diplomacy Post-Iraq

U.S. Foreign Policy has been the subject of increasing debate since the post-9/11 conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. What lessons can be learned from recent military operations and diplomacy efforts in the Middle East? What should the U.S. foreign policy of the future look like? As countries including China, India, and even Iran continue to emerge as major players on the world stage, how does the U.S.’s role change?

In this compelling three-segment podcast a distinguished panel of alumni discusses the major issues affecting U.S. foreign policy and the future of U.S. diplomacy.

The panel includes Elisabeth Bumiller (J77), Washington correspondent, The New York Times; Stan Crock (GJ73), Senior Editorial Director, U.S. Federal Client Group, Accenture, USA; Vicky O’Hara (J74, GJ75), Correspondent, National Security Foreign Desk, National Public Radio; and Al Pessin (J76), Pentagon Correspondent, Voice of America. The panel was moderated by John Lavine, Dean of the Medill School and Professor of Management and Strategy, Kellogg School of Management and Medill.
