The Class of 1989's 15th Reunion

There were many diverse events and a come-from-behind for the NU football team during the 2004 reunion weekend.

Activities included individual career counseling, Classes without Quizzes, President's Reception, a tent bash for all classes, the Homecoming Parade, football game breakfast, tailgate, victory over Purdue for the NU football team, and the Class of 1989 Party.

I attended the "Sport of Singing" class with talented Professor Karen Brunssen and enjoyed participating in the class. Also in attendance was the gracious new School of Music Dean, Toni-Marie Montgomery. I enjoyed listening to Professor Brunssen's talented students, Allison Valenta and Sarah Ponder, who demonstrated performance techniques for us and sang short selections at the end of the class.

At the President's Reception each class presented its gift to President Bienen. The reception was also attended by Dick Gephardt and his wife who graduated in the classes of 1962 and 1964, respectively.

Saturday's football game was exciting and intense. For most of the game, the score was 7 to 10 in favor of Purdue; however, NU rallied with a touchdown in the fourth quarter to win, 13 to 10.

Saturday evening, the Class of 1989 Party was held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Maple Avenue in Evanston. I met some new faces and saw old friends, too. Halloween and 80's music were themes for the evening.

New changes on and off campus include the addition of Slivka Residential College of Science and Engineering on the north campus, and many new eating establishments in Evanston including Einstein's Bagels.

All in all, it was an exciting weekend-with an exciting finish for the football team.
